Top Model goes green

TV show: America's next top model

Photographer: Mike Rosenthal
Photo shoot creative director: Jay Manuel

After the selection of the models, cycle 9 started, apparently Tyra is making it green, and nature friendly, there for the models will be forbidden to smoke. And the 1st photo shoot had the anti-smoking theme, featuring two photos of every model one before glamorous smoking photo and other which presented reflection in the mirror of the model with smoking side effects. 1st one sent home was Mila (on the photo above , in losing hair from chemotherapy theme), a girl with Russian origin, seemingly opposite of everything Natasha was, even tho in some interviews circling round YouTube she didn't seem like 'Mila' on the show.

Photos from Anti-Smoking photo shoot:
Heather and Saleisha: Secondhand Smoke; Lisa: Facial Tumor; Chantal: Tracheotomy; Sarah: Premature Aging; Jenah:Hair Loss from Chemotherapy; Ambreal: Lung Cancer; Janet: Burn Victim; Kimberly: Sunken Face; Bianca: Severe Gingivitis; Ebony: Collapsed Lung / Gas Mask.

Our fave is,
Victoria: Stillborn Child, we will see how she'll do in the next shoots.

The soundtrack through out the whole almost 10 minutes long show was Rihannas Please Don't Stop The Music which samples Micheal Jacksons Wannabe Startin' Something... check out the video

Roisin Murphy, Let Me Know

Artist:
Róisín Murphy
Video: Let Me Know
Róisín Murphy releases her new single 'Let Me Know' on October 8th with the brand new album 'Overpowered' following on October 15th. Co-written and produced by Andy Cato of Groove Armada, and mixed by Dan Carey (Kylie, Sly & Robbie, CSS, Lily Allen), 'Let Me Know' is a huge, floor-filling monster of a tune. The track was inspired by Róisín's performance at legendary New York DJ Danny Krivit's 718 Sessions in 2006 and perfectly showcases Róisín's love of dance music coupled with a huge great melody.

'Let Me Know' features three brand new B-sides and some stunning mixes from both Andy Cato and Joey Negro. However this time they're spread across the formats rather than stuffed on to one bumper-CD.

Justin DeWalt, if Dali had photoshop ...

Designer: Justin DeWalt
Portfolio:
www.deadbeatt.com

If Salvador Dali had photoshop, I bet his art would look something like this. Justin DeWalt is an amazing new artist on the block, and to see how much with talent and probably lot of work you can achieve in graphic design, check out his web portfolio at www.deadbeatt.com. Heres the bio. taken of Justin's website:

"Justin DeWalt is a self-taught 19 year old graphic artist of Pennsylvania. With less than a year in the professional market under his wing, his career has really taken off. He began getting heavy into design in the summer of 2006, where many doors were opened for him. Justin is slowly but surely making a name for himself. He has had no "formal" training in design but is really taking this job for a ride. In the coming years he plans to expand his name and business and begin to market his other talents/skills as well. He's a artist to really look out for in the future."

Ten years after the release of Natalie Imbruglia's smash hit debut 'Left Of The Middle' comes this career spanning singles collection from the Australian singer. DOU, the artist

Artist: DOU, Oleg Duryagin
Form of expression: photography

Personally written biography: I was born in Moscow on 19th of August 1983. My mother was a painter, and I was spending a lot of time among the artists, though I was not particulary interested in their activities.I felt an urge for arts and creation some time ago, when I was working as a designer, which pushed me to study seriously the design. That's how I "bumped into" photography, and I had an idea to combine it with design.

Creation brings me an enormous pleasure, I became conscious of the fact that photography is something I always wanted to do. I am stubborn, ambitious and optimistic by nature, I like being different, and my work, I hope, reflects these features of my character.

Siobhan Donaghy , "And This is Me"

Artist: Siobhan Donaghy
Album: Ghosts
Siobhan Donaghy
is sitting on one of the defining pop albums of the year. It's a charismatic set that blends an obsession with Kate Bush and The Cocteau Twins with some inventive electronica and bright sonic trickery.
She's already a familiar face as one-third of the original endearingly sullen Sugababes line-up, although it's now seven years since the schoolgirls charted with Overload and six since Donaghy left the band. She quit - legend has it, by going to the bathroom one day and never returning - just after promotion for the band's first album had finished, but she'd been in the group for four years, having met her first manager at the age of twelve and joined the Sugababes when she was thirteen.
"People think I was only in the band for Eight Months," she says today, popping a grape in her mouth on the fifth floor of her new record label Parlophone. "It was a long old stint by the time I left." While the Sugababes' career is presently overshadowed by some peculiar song choices and a transformation into what Only Folls & Horses fans might refer to as the "Triggers Broom" of popular songstrel triodom, and fellow Sugababes alumnus Mutya Buena is pursuing a familiar R&B route, Siobhan's new album Ghosts captures an organic, fresh and eccentric approach to pop, the multi-layered theatrics of first single Don't Give It Up - written for a friend battling addiction-being typical of the album's anvatgarde sensibility.
Siobhan's beautifully styled new artwork - all muted greens and decomposing gothic backdrops with the inevitable taxidermised birds glued to foreheads - suggests that her Kate Bush obsession may overflowed into a withdrawn overly arty persona. In a reality, the London-born singer goes out dancing every weekend, gets drunk and buys cherryade from Tesco.
Ghosts is Siobhan's second solo record; her first, the undervalued Revolution In Me, a moodily titled but breezy-sounding debut, didn't exactly bother the charts when it was released with little fanfare four years ago, and Siobhan found herself without a home when label, London, cleared out three-quarters of its roster. Though she's now signed to Parlophone, a label well know for its (rather unfashionable) commitment to artist development, Siobhan refuses to be complacent. "I know that what happened with the first album can't happen again," she smiles. "I coped pretty well last time, but things become harder if you don't have a certain level of commercial success. I don't do this for fame, or even for the money, but on a practical level you want a nice budget to make your next record." For an artist specialising in a opulently produced, ethereal pop - think Madonna's best William Orbit moments - this is clearly a priority, but for the time being Ghosts looks dangerously close to raising the bar for British pop artistry. "It's left field,"she states, one decade into her career and still only 22 years old, "but it's a pop record. I think it will fit in rather well. Perhaps I'm biased."

L.A.M.B. Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear

Designer: Gwen Stefani
Collection: L.A.M.B. Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear

NEW YORK, September 5, 2007 – Gwen Stefani was back on the runway tonight after a two-year absence. She spent most of that time caring for a newborn and touring the world, but somewhere along the line she got serious about fashion, too. Her debut, for those with short memories, was nothing short of cacophonous—one part Orange County chola girl, another part Rasta, to the tune of The Sound of Music. This show was far more harmonious. Stefani's references are still rooted in sound, specifically the ska bands that were an early inspiration for her group No Doubt. But the collection, which looked like the sixties as seen by someone who grew up in the eighties, was altogether more wearable and on trend.

Plasticgod, the self proclaimed 21st century Warhol

Designer: Plasticgod
Toy on the picture above: Ningyo
The internationally known Los Angeles resident Plasticgod took to drawing the minute he picked up a pencil at two years of age. He's sold works to an extensive list of 40 or more music and Academy Award winning movie celebrities including Jamie Foxx, Bruce Willis, Malcolm McDowell, Seth Green, and Japan's T.M.Revolution. PG has been exhibiting since 2001 and has shown extensively (over 100 shows) in galleries and art-related boutiques including a collaboration line with high-end jewelry company Minx. With press in international magazines such as Italian Vogue and Elle, as well as Entertainment Weekly, Sportswear, two covers for BPM and mentions in the New York and Los Angeles Times, it's no wonder he's been dubbed the "The 21st Century Warhol". His own twist on celebrity caricature comprises the popular "Heads" collection of over 700 pop and political icons. These icons are now taking form in the shape of 3-D toys with Super Rad Toys which notably in conjuction with Plasticgod supplied the exclusive Moonman toy for the 2007 MTV VMA's. Socially conscious, Plasticgod gives back! He's been involved in numerous charities raising money for Hurricane Katrina, tsunami relief, cancer research, animal rights, USC Special Olympics , human rights, children's fundraisers, and the list goes on. Plasticgod is definitely one to follow closely for years to come.
