W Boston is officially open, this project is is the result of a stunning collaboration between Boston-based architect William Rawn (ARCHITECT magazine’s choice for “Best Architect Firm in the U.S.), TRO|Jung|Brannen (an international firm known for sustainable design) and award-winning New York-based design team Bentel & Bentel. Bentel & Bentel envisioned the property as a “virtual garden”, incorporating shapes, colors and a variety of materials to create an urban oasis that pays homage to Boston Common, the Public Garden and Boston’s other prominent green spaces. Continue for more info and interior design images under the cut:

W Boston’s public spaces feature steel tendrils that define spaces and create visual interest in a way that is both organic and industrial, with light entering the spaces from both above, creating a canopy effect, and below, creating a campfire-inspired glow. Bentel & Bentel created a distinct design for each of the different W room categories utilizing combination of materials, colors, custom furniture and lighting; the result is welcoming, warm and stylish – with cool grays, blues, browns and violet colors used throughout.

In the new W you'll find Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s casual restaurant, Market, featuring French, Asian and Italian inspirations and emphasizing fresh, locally produced ingredients from the New England region. Among all, an exclusive underground bar and lounge by master mixologist Sasha Petraske (Milk and Honey in NYC; Drinkshop at W Atlanta-Downtown; POV at W DC) – Slated to open in early 2010, Descent will combine a 1920s speakeasy vibe with a sleek, twenty-first century lounge experience.
