#MENSWEAR Sneakers to Wear: OUR TOP 10
Men’s sneakers make or break an outfit and our Fashion Features editor Katarina Djoric has selected 10 must-have pieces pushing the norm. Unfortunately sneakers are very often part of the outfit men neglect, while men’s style is pretty much stuck in the definition of classic design lines, footwear designers are the one breaking the rules.
The collaborations with celebrated sports brands such as Adidas and top fashion designer such as Margiela or Raf Simons are the head turning moments on the scene. However while managing not to throw Kanye West and his Yeezy adventure in the mix we selected for the few guys reading DESIGN SCENE kicks from the likes of Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Neil Barrett, Saint Laurent, Valentino, Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto, J.W. Anderson and Rick Owens collabs.

MAISON MARGIELA Future Full-Grain Leather And Neoprene High-Top Sneakers
Maison Margiela’s ‘Future’ sneakers will make an unequivocally cool addition to your weekend wardrobe. Designed in a sleek silhouette, this high-top pair has been crafted in Italy from a mix of full-grain leather and neoprene. They’re designed with padded collars for comfort and set on gripped rubber soles to ensure traction. Team yours with slim denim or tapered sweatpants.
Made from snug neoprene with Velcro-fastening straps, Marni’s high-top sneakers have eye-catching colour-block soles that give them a sporty cool look. This lightweight Italian-made pair is perfect for all-day wear and comfort. The Selva High Top Sneaker features an elasticated booty, single cross-ankle velcro strap, supported heel counter and a high-traction, angulated tooling system.

The Californian theme that runs through Saint Laurent’s SS16 collection extends to these black canvas low-top trainers, offset with sunset hues and printed with black palm trees. Complete with a cream textured-rubber sole, they will lend a cool, rock ‘n’ roll vibe to the label’s rugged ready-to-wear.
Alexander McQueen’s crisp white trainers are a novel take on a classic. They have a high-top silhouette accented with a chunky Velcro-fastening ankle strap, and a textured raised rubber midsole for a dose of attitude. Fits true to size.

Based on its cult trainer, Y-3 introduces the high-top boot for the new season. It has bandage straps across the front, lace-up fastenings, a logo stamp at the back and a chunky white rubber sole.

Rick Owens is known for its limit-pushing aesthetic, as demonstrated by these ‘Ro Runner’ sneakers. From the designer’s collaboration with adidas, they’re crafted from black leather and finished with thick, padded collars for comfort. The exaggerated rubber soles make them more suitable for urban-cool weekend looks than sessions at the gym.
