PFW REVIEW: Maison Margiela Fall Winter 2018 Collection

Maison Margiela
Is John Galliano having more fun at Maison Marigela than he had living the dream with his eponymous label? Minus the spectacular Galliano runways, it certainly looks like it. While the new collection from a few view points seems to aim poking fun at the conventions and pretensions of the industry, there’s a few layers for a reason on this runway. With the rise of new names to the fashion scene in the recent years, and Maison Margiela’s non-aggressive approach to the industry it easy to forget how strong of a player Galliano really is.

FALL WINTER 2018 COLLECTIONS

Whether it was his eponymous line, Dior or today Margiela, John Galliano understands what being ahead of the market often means for a fashion designer. Initially in such a game, though Mr Galliano is highly regarded, in the beginning you do not get to profit much for what you do. At the moment the designer is bringing Maison Margiela’s avant garde flare to new heights, a place where cult pieces are created. Pieces the label can pause and consolidate on, and therefore capitalize for years to come. The new collection just as the previous ones by Galliano for the house offers a slew of coveted items you’ll be proud you gotten your hands on first!

Perhaps, what plays in hand for Galliano is the maison’s very chic and non-aggressive handling of the ins and outs in the fashion industry. This gives Maison Margiela more time to capitalize on its own designs before a wave of imitators washes ashore. Oversized outerwear as well as footwear, colours of the season and eye-popping PVC- everything legions of loyal fans will be fighting to get their hands on.

Review by Katarina Djoric, Fashion Features Director at DESIGN SCENE Magazine, continue for all the looks from the new collection:
