Are you and your family going on a cruise soon? Here’s the complete cruise packing list of essential things you’ll need to bring with you to have the most fun.

In 2019, around 30 million travellers chose to take a cruise for their vacation. While year 2020 travel plans are disrupted for millions around the globe, if taking a vacation in the coming months it is important to stay up to date with Covid-19 preventive measures before travelling for work or leisure.

If you’ve never been on a cruise before we do hope you will be able to do so this year. In the hopes of summer allowing us to travel, let’s say there’s no better time to contemplate a dream vacation than now. Therefore, our Travel editor talks everything you to pack for a cruise vacation. Going on a cruise means you’ll enjoy an affordable way to visit international locations, with countless amenities and great food.

If you’re planning your the vacation of a lifetime, it’s time to start packing. Keep reading for a complete cruise packing list from DESIGN SCENE Magazine’s Travel Editors:

Appropriate Clothing And Shoes

For the most part, cruises are pretty casual when it comes to wardrobe dress codes. The item you’ll probably find yourself wearing the most is your swimsuit. Nevertheless, keep in mind that most cruises require you to wear a cover-up when moving from your cabin to and from the pool.

Most cruises also have specific dress codes for meals. Usually nights are relaxed so casually clothing will be enough as long as you don’t wear a swimsuit or shorts. However, the main dining room will usually have a formal night on the schedule, where you’ll be required to dress up a little bit more than the usual.

You’ll also want to make sure to pack appropriate outfits for any excursions you may take. For example, if you’re a tropical destination-lover, you’ll enjoy the food, fun, and cruises from Florida. Pack extra swimsuits, water shoes, and cover-ups for when you go on-shore. If it’s an Alaska cruise, well you will need more than a swimsuit! After all dressing for a cruise serves as an inspiration for some of the biggest fashion brands. Fashion houses such as Valentino, Prada and Alexander McQueen are some of the brands who regularly present spring collections every year with a cruise theme in mind by simply calling them resort or cruise collections.

Toiletries And Essentials

Like any vacation, you’ll want to pack the toiletries and essentials.

Think about everything you use to get ready in the morning. While the cruise will supply small-sized soaps, you may want to consider bringing your own along. Then add your toothbrush and toothpaste, makeup, hairbrush, and medications to your bag.

From there, you’ll want to pack your daily essentials. This means your phone charger, wallet with some cash as well as credit cards, required identification, and cruise documents.

Pack Tech Essentials

You will also need to pack items such as a cellphone, laptop, and charger cables. It is also a good idea to bring along a power strip so that you can charge all of your devices at once, and be sure to pack any adapters you may need in order to use your electronics in foreign countries. If you plan on spending time by the pool, Becky from Global Grasshopper suggests getting a waterproof phone case to keep your phone protected.

Pool-Side Extras

The highlight of any cruise ship is the pool and it will likely be your most visited hot-spot during your at-sea days. For that reason, you’ll want to specifically think about packing your pool-side extras.

While many cruise ships supply pool towels, it’s best to consider packing your own. When you pack your own, you don’t have to worry about checking in and out the pool towels. An added bonus is that it helps to clearly mark your spot while you’re in the pool.

You’ll also want to pack a bag to carry to the pool small items you might need, such as sunscreen, sunglasses, small water toys, and a good book.

What Would You Add To This Cruise Packing List?

These are the three main essential categories you’ll focus on when making your cruise packing list. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t add any other items to the list.

Before you start to pack anything, make sure you look at your cruise line’s list of prohibited items. From there, you can pack anything that’s not included on the list as long as it fits in your luggage. And don’t forget to leave a little extra space in your luggage so you can bring home souvenirs!

Speaking of luggage, if you’re in need of something to pack all your items in, check out these fancy Dior luggage bags coming directly from Paris. There you’ll find a large section of reviews on the best travel bags.
