Creativity is essential to living. MARC JACOBS presented his Fall Winter 2022.23 collection last night, in the grand entrance hall of the New York Public Library on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue. Referring to the state of turbulence in today’s world, the collection centers around nihilistic philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and his quote “We have art in order not to die of the truth.”

Amidst an ever-changing landscape of resources, unexpected obstacles and a world feverishly digitizing new standards of reality. My sentiment is unwavering – creativity is essential to living.

The designer spoke about sharing his creative choices in contrast to the ongoing brutality and ugliness of a world beyond our insulated but not impermeable walls.

The collection features futuristic designs with oversized proportions, glossy materials, playful shapes and vivid colors. The models were wearing a ski high platform boots, an elbow-length gloves, giant garbage bag inspired designs, with heads wrapped in a bulky sweatshirts, or with the edgy undercut hairstyles.
