Travis Scott has once again teamed up with Jordan Brand to drop a new Air Jordan 1 Low OG colorway, “Velvet Brown/Dark Mocha.” Revealed in a whimsical commercial featuring Scott himself and the legendary Dennis Rodman, this release continues Travis’s streak of boundary-pushing collaborations that fuse playful storytelling with compelling sneaker design.

Travis and Rodman’s short film channels a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory-inspired setting dubbed “The Factory.” Viewers follow a lucky rollercoaster rider who stumbles upon a golden ticket attached to a fresh pair of AJs. Rodman serves as the tour guide, explaining that the shoes undergo a chocolate transformation, resulting in the “sweet” final version. It’s a fun, imaginative backdrop that cleverly frames the AJ1’s rich color palette.

The Travis Scott Velvet Brown colorway harnesses the deep warmth often associated with Travis Scott’s collaborations. A slightly rugged brown hue wraps the suede or nubuck overlays, complemented by darker mocha accents that add an earthy contrast. Expect the reversed Swoosh—now a hallmark of Travis Scott’s Jordan line—to appear on at least one side of each sneaker, preserving the signature look that Cactus Jack fans have come to love.

The release typically incorporate premium suede or nubuck for that luxe yet street-ready feel. The classic Air Jordan 1 Low shape remains intact, complete with Nike Air branding on the tongue, Cactus Jack detailing, and subtle nods to La Flame’s design ethos throughout—be it stitched logos or hidden pockets. Dark laces blend seamlessly into the “Velvet Brown” upper, ensuring that the entire sneaker maintains an understated, earthy vibe.

What truly sets this release apart is the playful marketing campaign. In the commercial, Dennis Rodman humorously guides a guest through The Factory, spotlighting the shoes’ “chocolate” origins and Travis’s one-of-a-kind machinery. The cameo from Rodman—himself a basketball icon and cultural figure—underscores the sneaker’s blend of sport, style, and spectacle. Travis eventually appears behind a desk to greet the visitor, tying up the tongue-in-cheek storyline.

After much anticipation and a “SOON” placeholder on the Cactus Jack website, the coveted “Velvet Brown” Jordan 1 Low finally dropped on December 20—only to sell out in a flash. The narrative-driven release, paired with the usual fervor surrounding Travis Scott collaborations, quickly propelled these brown sneakers into must-have status, sealing their place as one of the year’s most sought-after drops.
