Justin Bieber wastes little time between releases, following July’s SWAG with a sprawling sequel, SWAG II. The record runs over two hours with 44 tracks, a continuation of his seventh album rather than a fresh direction. Bieber surrounds himself with high-profile collaborators: Tems features on “I THINK YOU’RE SPECIAL,” Bakar on “DON’T WANNA,” Hurricane Chris on “POPPIN’ MY S***,” Eddie Benjamin on “OPEN UP YOUR HEART” and “SWAG,” Cash Cobain and Gunna on “WAY IT IS,” Druski on “SOULFUL,” “THERAPY SESSION,” and “STANDING ON BUSINESS,” Dijon on “DEVOTION,” Lil B on “DADZ LOVE,” Sexyy Red on “SWEET SPOT,” and Marvin Winans on “FORGIVENESS.”
MUSIC
“SPEED DEMON” opens the album with funk-driven energy, revisiting a familiar meme from SWAG and adding a chorus built around “checking these chickens.” “OH MAN” follows with a focus on repetition, while “OPEN UP YOUR HEART” draws influence from ballad structures linked to Phil Collins. “LOVE SONG” introduces warped strings and lively interjections that bring another texture into the record.
Bieber also includes material centered on faith. “EVERYTHING HALLELUJAH” frames personal reflection through direct lyrics, while “STORY OF GOD” closes the album with a near eight-minute retelling of Adam and Eve supported by ambient production.
The tracklist also moves toward pop-driven moments. “DON’T WANNA” features Bakar and carries restless grooves, while “BAD HONEY,” co-written with Dijon, adds synth-driven layers with playful lines. “MOVING FAST” introduces an introspective atmosphere with soft guitar, and “SAFE SPACE” shifts into Baltimore club rhythms, giving the project a different pace.
Across 44 tracks, SWAG II explores a broad mix of ideas, structures, and collaborations. The extended length allows Bieber to move in different directions while carrying forward the sound introduced on SWAG. The album is available now on Spotify.
