Dario Vitale made his debut as Versace creative director with the Spring Summer 2026 collection, unveiling a vision that unearthed the very foundations of the house. Staged in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, among Renaissance masterpieces and intimate chambers once used as a residence, the show became both archive and atmosphere. Letters, photographs, art, and ephemera informed the collection as gesture, attitude, and a way of being.
SPRING SUMMER 2026
The collection framed dressing as an articulation of context and encounter, carrying the traces of friends, rivals, lovers, and partners. Tailoring, négligée, leather, denim, and printed shirting appeared with new articulation, their details reworked for contemporary realities yet rooted in archival codes. The silhouettes radiated a Mediterranean presence, noble classicism and halcyon grandeur clashed with streetwise irreverence, delivering garments as much lived-in as they were opulent.

Versace’s sensuality pulsed through every piece. The mixed-metal dresses, long a house signature, returned with inviting ease. Striped denim jeans carried a reckless energy, while patched leather blousons and layered knits cut with white tees evoked action and intimacy. The collection insisted on sex as stature, as an attitude shaping drape, silhouette, and presence.
Fabrications intensified this duality. Etched leathers, pleated silks, and lurid-toned prints reflected the house’s heritage while pushing its decadence forward. Beading and trompe l’œil gold chains invoked a glamour designed for its own sake, while tight drapes and severe forms suggested submission and dominance in equal measure. Each piece carried an impression of tactility, created to gather and wrap around the body like a second skin.

The palette moved between Mediterranean and Miami Beach hues, drenching denim and silks in bold tones that demanded touch and gaze. These choices reinforced the collection’s ethos: elegance entwined with provocation, refinement undone by desire. It was a collection that exalted the contradictions of human impulse, dirty and divine, refined and reckless, conscious and carnal.
With his debut, Dario Vitale positioned Versace as a willing to confront its archive and inhabit it. Spring Summer 2026 celebrated unresolvable tensions, between sex and elegance, classicism and rebellion, refinement and rawness, reaffirming the house’s status as a place where audacity and desire remain inseparable.
