JOOPITER announces The Collection of Sébastien Jondeau: My Life with Karl Lagerfeld, an auction that opens the personal archive of one of Karl Lagerfeld’s closest collaborators. For nearly three decades, Jondeau worked alongside Lagerfeld in both professional and private settings, becoming widely recognized as his right-hand man. Over the course of their relationship, Lagerfeld shared objects with Jondeau that reflected their daily routines, creative exchanges, and travels. The sale introduces these items to the public for the first time, offering access to objects that remained within Jondeau’s possession for decades.

Jondeau partnered with JOOPITER due to his long-standing relationship with Pharrell Williams, the platform’s founder, who shared a personal and creative connection with Lagerfeld. The auction gathers rare pieces across fashion, art, design, jewelry, watches, and personal equipment tied directly to Lagerfeld’s life and working environment. Jondeau describes the decision to release these items as a way to place them in the hands of individuals who understand their significance. He also acknowledges JOOPITER’s role in presenting and handling the archive with care and precision.
Several works of art anchor the offering. Andy Warhol’s Chanel from Ads from 1985 stands among the most notable pieces. Warhol gifted the work directly to Lagerfeld, and its graphic rendering of the Chanel logo reflects his interest in luxury imagery. Helmut Newton appears through two photographs from his Monte Carlo series created in 1981. These large-format images belonged to a group Newton produced along the Côte d’Azur and later gifted to Lagerfeld. The photographs remained in Lagerfeld’s Monte Carlo residence before entering Jondeau’s archive. Jeff Koons’ Dom Pérignon Balloon Venus also appears in the sale. Produced in collaboration with Dom Pérignon, the sculpture integrates Koons’ sculptural language with a functional vessel designed to hold a bottle of champagne.
Objects tied directly to Lagerfeld’s routines provide insight into his daily life. A Louis Vuitton Breakfast Cabine, created as a bespoke gift by Bernard Arnault and the Louis Vuitton team between 2002 and 2003, functioned as a portable breakfast station designed to maintain Lagerfeld’s strict dietary schedule while traveling. The interior includes a complete dining arrangement with utensils, napkins, tablecloth, toaster, and storage compartments. Travel equipment continues with Goyard trunks used by Jondeau and Lagerfeld’s team, as well as sports-inspired accessories from the Icon and Iconoclasts collection, including a monogram Punching Bag with trunk and stand produced in an edition of twenty-five and monogram boxing gloves with a corresponding bag.
Fashion and personal accessories hold a central role within the archive. A Chanel Graffiti Backpack from the Spring Summer 2014 Métiers collection belonged to Jondeau and served as his primary travel bag after Lagerfeld gifted it to him. Lagerfeld frequently carried the same backpack, integrating it into their shared routines. Jewelry includes Chrome Hearts gold pieces and a Rolex Daytona reworked by Bamford in rose gold tones. This watch forms part of an edition limited to ten examples and features the Paul Newman dial configuration. Lagerfeld purchased the piece at Colette, the Paris retailer known for rare collaborations and exclusive releases.
Additional garments include ready-to-wear pieces by Hedi Slimane from Dior Homme and Saint Laurent, alongside designs by John Galliano, Moncler x Pharrell Williams, and other collaborators connected to Lagerfeld’s professional orbit. Design objects extend the archive further. A Chanel carbon fiber surfboard signed by Lagerfeld and marked for St. Barth reflects Jondeau’s role testing Chanel sports equipment during development. A one-off Colette x Vespa scooter acquired by Jondeau also appears in the sale.
