Fashion photographer Gary Lupton photographed the New Zealand model at the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport, placing the story inside one of New York’s most recognizable modernist interiors.

The editorial draws on the location’s curved architecture, open spaces, and strong geometric lines. Fowler moves through the terminal’s interiors as Lupton uses the building’s forms to structure each frame. The setting gives In Transit a controlled visual rhythm, connecting fashion, movement, and architecture throughout the series.

For the story, Fowler wears Balenciaga, Chanel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Loro Piana, Tod’s, Akris with Daniel Jacinto serving as stylist coordinator and Giulia Schrappe handling styling on set. The looks introduce sculpted proportions and precise silhouettes that respond directly to the scale and geometry of the TWA Hotel. Hair stylist Rei Kawauchi at Bridge Artists and makeup artist Anastasia Vavina created the beauty direction.

The editorial extends the central theme of DSCENE Magazine’s latest issue. Design Under Pressure examines creative work shaped by speed, scrutiny, expectation, economics, and visibility. The issue considers how pressure affects the development of ideas, how creative people protect their work, and what happens when ambition meets constant demand. Fashion, film, music, design, architecture, art, and public life provide different perspectives on a condition that increasingly defines contemporary culture.

Fowler brings nearly two decades of fashion experience to In Transit. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, she entered the industry at age 12 and moved to New York at 16 after signing with IMG Models. Her career has developed across runway, editorial, and commercial work, giving her a sustained presence across several areas of the industry.

She established her high-fashion profile through runway appearances for leading luxury houses. Fowler walked for Chanel at Versailles in 2012 and later appeared in shows for Prada, Miu Miu, Balmain, and Armani. She also reached a wider audience through the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, where she walked for three consecutive years from 2016 through 2018.

Her editorial and commercial work includes magazine covers for Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and L’Officiel, along with international campaigns. Fowler has also worked across film, television, and music. She appeared in Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2016 film The Neon Demon, hosted the first season of Project Runway New Zealand, and starred in the music video for Kygo and Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me.”

In Lupton’s In Transit editorial for DSCENE, Fowler’s experience appears through controlled movement, direct expression, and a clear awareness of the camera. The full story positions her within an architectural setting built around circulation and transition, creating a visual response to the issue’s focus on pressure, performance, and creative discipline.
