For its 2026 edition, DSCENE Unframed travelled to Sardinia under the curatorial framework Island Conditions, examining how geography, distance, exposure and collective living can shape artistic attention.
ART
The residency brought together Maja Djordjevic, Vuk Cuk, Tudor Ciurescu, Tina Petersone, Marko Radisic, Gabino Azuela and Jackie Crespo for seven days of research, conversation and creative exchange. Sardinia became an active part of the programme, with its geography, climate and rhythms informing the way the week developed.

An island creates specific forms of attention. Distance from familiar routines changes pace. A coastline establishes both a limit and a point of arrival. Wind, salt, water, stone, heat and shifting weather affect bodies, materials and perception, while shared time creates another condition through proximity, conversation, movement and temporary coexistence.

Island Conditions centred on five ideas: distance, exposure, material, boundary and coexistence. Together, they formed a loose curatorial structure that could accommodate seven very different practices without prescribing a single outcome.

Distance introduced a change of pace and focus. Exposure considered the influence of climate and environment on physical experience. Material opened conversations around place, production and local knowledge. Boundary addressed the island as both separation and connection. Coexistence focused on the temporary community formed through seven days of living, working and spending time together.

The artists entered an open framework for research, discussion and experimentation. Ideas could develop through observation, conversation, shared time or individual work, allowing each participant to determine what became relevant within their own practice.

DSCENE Unframed continues to develop as a platform for artistic exchange beyond conventional exhibition formats. The residency creates time for ideas, exchanges and working relationships to develop without the expectation of an immediate outcome. Some responses take form during the week, while others continue through later work, conversations and collaborations.

The Sardinia edition will continue through a dedicated DSCENE Unframed publication, bringing together contributions from all seven participating artists alongside photography, notes, research and material developed around the residency. Each artist will approach their section independently, giving the publication space to reflect the range of practices and perspectives within the group.
Due Lune Puntaldia Resort & Golf
Throughout the week, Due Lune Puntaldia Resort & Golf served as the residency’s home and an essential partner to DSCENE Unframed.
Its location between the marina, sea and Puntaldia terrain gave the artists the privacy required for sustained exchange while keeping the surrounding environment constantly present. The property provided spaces for shared meals, informal meetings, individual reflection and the quieter periods that often prove essential within a residency.
Marriott Tours & Activities
Marriott Tours & Activities helped support key elements of the programme, connecting the residency with different parts of Sardinia through excursions and experiences designed around the region.
Their support included the visit to Tenute Olbios in Gallura, the traditional sailing trip around Tavolara and Molara, and the private Sardinian pasta-making class. Together, these activities gave the artists different ways to encounter the island through landscape, local production, food and time spent together outside the residency base.
