Rick Owens presented his Fall Winter 2017.18 collection named Glitter during the Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by the period in the seventies that celebrates sleaze, transgression, sexual liberation and anti-conformity, as well as French women’s hats during the World War 2, the new collection is a some kind of closure to the last few shows. The collection features hand-painted fabrics, dense and rigid wools, balloon-like nylon jackets, high waist trousers in Rick Owens signature black and white, with addition of tones called ‘bean’ and ‘toad’ .
FALL WINTER 2017/18 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
Glitter… I chose this name as a reaction to the last cycle of my collections, which were about facing physical and ecological decline gracefully… How do we find the gentlest way to react to cultural and political threat? I might have summarized that sense of doom with the last few shows and now it’s time to move on. – Rick Owens
