Olivier Rousteing presented Balmain‘s Autumn Winter 2017/18 collection during the third day of the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. Relying on a Balmain’s long tradition, Rousteing adjusted the new collection to the today’s spirit of youth, freedom and rebellion. The focus is on animal prints, inspired by the landscapes of Serengeti, the Far West and Amazonia, combined with the well-known Balmain rock and roll chic.
FALL WINTER 2017/18 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
I was just a kid during Nirvana’s heyday, but their powerful music of rebellion definitely marked me then—and continues to resonate with me today. Those liberating lyrics advised us to ignore guidelines of what’s expected and remain true to ourselves. It’s that same mindset that propels today’s strong women as they march down the runway. They’ve embarked on the perfect road trip, picking up influences while traveling across the globe’s most awe-inspiring landscapes—the Serengeti, the Far West, Amazonia. The women of this diverse Balmain army revel in their freedom to celebrate themselves, their beauty and their power. Their impressive inner strength is manifest in this collection’s many animal patterns, prints and illustrations. – Olivier Rousteing
