“During the Victorian era, women wore an extensive amount of underwear. Underclothing at that time was generally categorised into two kinds, underlinens and structural garments.
Structural garments, as its name suggests, created the prominent Victorian silhouette. However, what caught the designer’s eye is the underlinens that served as protection for the valuable corset, dress and outer clothing from the body and vice versa. The functionality of these unadorned garments led the designer to reconsider the intimate relationship between clothing and our skin.“
