Minki Spring Summer 2018 Collection presentation took place at the Somerset House during London Fashion Week. The collection is meant to evoke nostalgic feelings, memories and images that resonate with the Minki woman.
“Wake up,” somebody said. But what from? The transforming colours and lines that manifest in the mind are too dear to leave. “Open your eyes,” somebody urged. But what for, if they were never closed to begin with? The world Minki lives in is always high and low tide at once; a site where humble workwear shapes meet 70s glamour extravaganza, ruched organza and PVC. It is a sphere where Roberto Capucci and Verner Panton rub shoulders while floaty georgette dresses live alongside outdoor nylon jackets and big denim jeans; where gigantic pattern pieces are shrunk to fit around the body, and drawstrings accentuate shape. If that is the reality of Minki’s dream, who on earth would wish to rise and shine from it?”
