Mashama presents the spring summer 2018 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The collection draws inspiration from the film 2046, written and directed by Wong Kar-wai. The film’s poetic quotes and romantic sci-fi aesthetic underlines Mashama’s vision this season.
‘The cyber cinematic vibe is found in glitch patterns, irregular pleats and prints, tech textiles and materials. Embracing a form of futuristic nostalgia, A gentle Chinese essence appears, recognizable but changed. The qipao dress inspires not form but pattern. The dudou top is transformed from undergarment to statement neckline. MASHAMA continues to challenge the way women wear suits, heralding a new city uniform. MASHAMA’s staple tailoring, combined with high tech outerwear garments – a collaboration with KOLON SPORT- and contrasted by soft seasonal floral, creates an ideal modern silhouette. As per MASHAMA tradition, the pinstripe returns – men’s tailoring fabrics constructing strong lines. The season’s flower is never obvious, but her attitude is. Appearing in broken form, neon, heat embossed lines, digital and metallic, this flower surrenders proudly to innovation, ready to bloom.’
