Strateas Carlucci presents the spring summer 2018 collection. Inspired by the Paris Metro and the work of Chinese photographer Ren Hang, the collection is titled ‘Transit’. There is birth, there is death; life is TRANSIT. Strateas Carlucci explores and compares the rawness, the grit and the beauty of the real world and the underground of the Paris Metro to Hangs raw and provocative imagery of nudes, which are both confronting and beautiful, yet speak of purity. The metro is a living organism made up of varied individuals, like the bodies presented in Hang’s work; intertwined, tangled, bent, stacked and twisted. The collection itself consists of the intertwining and meshing of opposing notions. Melding shirts with dresses, tailoring with denim, candy colours with subversive details and playing with masculine and feminine forms and fabrications creates strong silhouettes and sharp tailoring with oversized shapes.
