BABYGHOST presents its Spring 2018 collection on February 7th during New York Fashion Week.
BABYGHOST Spring 2018 examines performance and sportswear through the brand’s distinct and individualist lens. Timeless in nature, a source of inspiration this season is the idea of the Olympic games, which have stood the test of time again and again and have proven to be a moment when people of all backgrounds and from countless nations come together as one. The Game’s recognition of skateboarding provided an interesting source of conversation for the designers. Exploring both the technical performance and athletic wear that the athletes might don in competition, to the chic, sportif clothing intended for the everyday, BABYGHOST’s examination translated into this season’s nylon and silk sport jackets, loose-fit track trousers, and punchy boxing shorts. Digital printing is used for the very first time, namely on separates, crafted in cotton jersey, which feature various themes, from Corinthian columns to a “2018” print that playfully mimics the Internationally-recognized symbol of the emblem of interlaced rings. Looks are smartly paired with printed chiffon scarfs with silk linings. BABYGHOST experiments with unique silhouettes, textures and materials – namely, waxed silk – and a dark color palette. Known for its unconventional subtext and creative ingenuity, BABYGHOST Spring 2018 aims to deliver a collection that’s equally subversive as it is rebelliously democratic. – from BABYGHOST
