Discover Christian Dada‘s Spring Summer 2019 Laments Collection presented on Sunday June 24th, during the last day of the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. With SS19 collection Designer Masanori Morokawa pays tribute to Araki’s 1991 two-volume book of photography Laments – From Close Range / Skyscapes.

“These inspirational black and white photos and painterly colored images surface on recurrent prints and embellishments throughout the collection. A sense of poetic melancholy pervades, from images of withering flowers to shots of apples cut open and left for the birds to peck over. Araki’s sensual rendering of an anthurium plant adds a subtle erotic tension, as part of his exploration of dealing with grief.
Building on the same aesthetic thread as collections past, the artsy notion of the beauty of imperfection gives way to myriad fabric embellishments and textural treatments, playing on fading effects to evoke the sense of the passing time.“
