Jacquemus unveiled Fall Winter 2019.20 collection, entitled La Collectionneuse, on Sunday February 26th, during the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. Combining the conceptual, artsy ideas that inspired designer’s early work with the solar sensuality of recent seasons, the new collection features avant-garde yet wearable looks.
Against a bright architectural backdrop that draws from Les Demoiselles de Rochefort and the island of Murano, the collection shares Simon’s obsessions as an evolved vision of the Jacquemus woman. Tailoring and workwear re-envision a masculine influence with distinct fluidity. Adaptations to suits and cargo-pocket jeans shift the sex appeal. Thick apron straps outline exposed backs and shoulders. Construction and character define the season’s statement pieces: a fuchsia double-face wool trench, a silk gilet with oversize utility pockets, a suit punctuated with metal rings can be customized with flower buds or other ephemera. Doubled-up nylon waist bags give the impression of a present-day pannier.– from Jacquemus
