Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO presented Spring Summer 2020 collection that explores how people relate to subcultures and individuality today, on Friday June 21st, at Palais de Tokyo Galerie Haute, during the recently finished Paris Fashion Week.
SPRING SUMMER 2020 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
“Today the world is driven by the internet, with digital messaging becoming our new reality. With this collection, Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO reevaluates a time when the ‘underground’ was thriving and weaves a message of authenticity through the collection. Via his own unique interpretation, Mihara Yasuhiro proposes a dynamic new take on underground culture.
Everything is not as it appears–trompe l’oeil designs reveal garments that are deceptive at a first glance. The inside out proposition breaks the rules of classic tailoring and can be seen subverting shapes of MA-1 jackets and outerwear, offering a new mood for menswear.
A European perspective is also present in the collection, with military inspired motifs recurring throughout. Following on from last season, designs featuring the fusion of two different garments also make a return. A darkly stylish attitude remains a key touchstone for the Mihara Yasuhiro man.
The collection also features collaboration items with record store “DISC UNION (disc union)” a hub for independent music in Japan.“
