Alexandra Hackett presented Studio ALCH‘s Spring Summer 2020 Single Use collection, inspired by designer’s personal plastic bag archive, on Sunday June 9th, during the ongoing London Fashion week Men’s.
SPRING SUMMER 2020 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS
“Having always found a beauty in the materiality of plastic, especially in product packaging, Alexandra’s aim was to draw attention to the treatment of them worldwide through this collection.
Garments presented explore the idea of reducing plastic consumption through innovative design methods employed to increase functionality. Key pieces feature pockets with packable carrier bags enclosed that can be removed and utilised to reduce plastic usage.
Fabrics vary from the technical nylons that are synonymous with the Studio ALCH brand ethos, to heat-fused polyethylene denims and silk pieces emblazoned with line-drawings of floating carrier bags. Summer knit pieces appear in reflective grey yarn and gilets are presented in water-repellent, insulated tactical silhouettes. The colour palette reflects the brand’s strong connection to sportswear, with pieces being presented in black, white, grey and neon yellow.
This collection features pieces from the brand’s fourth collaboration with renowned streetwear label Patta. Alexandra has deconstructed some of their key accessory pieces to be then reconstructed into a hydration vest, windbreaker and packable utility short. The range also features a collaborative harness with Greatness Dex.“
