“LITKOVSKAYA’s Spring Summer 2020 collection describes a day in life, seen as a series of snapshots, alighting on the salient moments. Morning, noon, dusk and night are embodied in silk slips and transparent organza dresses with twisted details, in deconstructed suits of wool and plastic-covered cotton, dramatic gowns and bold graphic leather pieces. Expressing her inspiration through deconstruction and contradictory combinations, designer Lilia Litkovskaya imagines a woman’s life as a continuous spectrum in which only her truth carries over from one point to the next.
Shoulders are strong, outlined using traditional tailoring techniques, as a reminder that women today face a whole world, not just half-lives. Details derive from women’s lingerie to emphasize the soft power of femininity. Textures are mixed, twisted and fringed showcasing the way we today value handcraft and artisanal approach. Integrating art into her collection every season, Lilia Litkovskaya continues her collaboration with Milanbased sculptor Tatiana Brodatch. This summer, it is a necklace with two balancing pendants resembling ancient figurines of men and women – the beginnings, the parts coinciding in each of us at the moment of birth.“
