French fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro has died yesterday, December 22nd in Paris aged 86. He founded his fashion house in the 1960s, with the assistance of Swiss artist Sonja Knapp and Elena Bruna Fassio.
Ungaro moved to Paris at the age of 22, and three years later he began working for Cristóbal Balenciaga for three years. He quit to work for Courrèges, where he was 4 years before he opened his own fashion house.

Ungaro retired in 2005 and sold the label to internet entrepreneur Asim Abdullah.
