Designer ATSUSHI NAKASHIMA presented the Spring Summer 2021 Collection, that explores Japanese traditional spirituality using western arts and techniques, with video directed by Yohsuke Hayashi and created by Daigo Yamaguchi, as part of Milan Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by a long, loose coat worn by Japanese gang members “Tokkoufuku” – this coat is done in traditional style, and is always embroidered with kanji.
SPRING SUMMER 2021 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTION
“A very thin and transparent fabric is glued on the surface of the main fabric and motives are printed on that transparent fabric. After sewing it, the transparent fabric is peeled off. By this technique, we can see mysterious nuance like “moiré”. An expression of respect towards the Japanese traditional artsis is the use of the Dragon Tiger and “SAMURAI” motives. The motif of the tiger is geometrically designed and the sweats are built by cutting all parts and by sewing them together.” – from Atsushi Nakashima
