
CHOCHENG Fall Winter 2021 collection presented today as part of American Collections Calendar and the CFDA’s new digital initiative. The collection by fashion designer Cho Cho Cheng was showcased with a digital lookbook and runway video.
I want to tell a cheerful and inspirational tale of Mulan as choreographed by Fellini in 80’s Utopian style, a Peking Opera dripped in Glamour and Humour.
Chinese designer Cho Cho Cheng and his eponymous label CHOCHENG are for years now a refreshing highlight of New York Fashion Week. CHOCHENG is already an established brand with celebrity designers such as Jane Jackson, Nicole Kidman and the late Nancy Reagan. Cho Cho Cheng has launched his fashion house in 2010. Cho and has team are tirelessly working on making sustainability part of the CHOCHENG fashion house. When it comes to materials used to create CHOCHENG designs all fabrics are natural and sourced from selects suppliers in the UK.
I have always been a spiritual person and find it a wonderful experience to connect or reconnect with our inner selves. I truly believe people are, by nature, much kinder than they appear to be.
CHOCHENG works with a direct to consumer model via retail and e-commerce with a flagship store located on Fifth Avenue. CHOCHENG is the first Asian designer to open a store in this location.



DSCENE Fashion Director Katarina Djoric sits down for an exclusive interview with Cho Cho Cheng, to talk about his work in progress, what inspired him for the Fall Winter 2021 season and his biggest challenges working during pandemic.
How do you start your work on a new collection? – I begin by eating, praying, and shopping in Paris. I first binge on desserts and pray to God for inspiration and guidance, then go to Paris Premiere Vision to purchase fabrics.
What was the story you wanted to tell with your new collection? – I want to tell a cheerful and inspirational tale of Mulan as choreographed by Fellini in 80’s Utopian style, a Peking Opera dripped in Glamour and Humour.
What was the biggest challenge in creating the latest collection during these uncertain times? – Shipping and logistics have been a huge challenge. It took us almost two months to ship the collection from Europe to New York.

What would you say is the key piece of this collection? – Look 2 is the key piece of this collection: a cotton crepe blouse in red, orange, and purple.
The pandemic forced us to completely change our lifestyles. Do you feel that this has forced us to reconnect to our inner selves? – I have always been a spiritual person and find it a wonderful experience to connect or reconnect with our inner selves. I truly believe people are, by nature, much kinder than they appear to be.
If you had to sum up CHOCHENG in three words, what would they be? – Comfort, confidence, and craftsmanship.
What’s next for you? I’m launching e-commerce and a full line of accessories.
