Gucci-Balenciaga rumor is true! Creative director Alessandro Michele collaborated with Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia on Gucci’s newest collection presented today. The Kering-owned Italian luxury brand has revealed its Fall 2021.22 collection, called Aria, via special film co-directed by award-winning photographer and director Floria Sigismondi and Alessandro Michele.
In the year of Gucci’s centenary, Alessandro Michele finds the inspiration in the house’s heritage, and the mythology that surrounds the brand, but also in the creativity of Demna Gvasalia.
Standing sentinel is the Savoy Club—a tribute to The Savoy Hotel in London where founder Guccio Gucci worked as a liftboy in his youth. Once inside, a “hacking lab” is unveiled. Incursions and contaminations by elements “pilfered” from House heritage and from Demna Gvasalia, Creative Director of Balenciaga—ultimately expressions of reverence and homage. – from Gucci.
The digital runway takes the field of digital presentation to a whole new level. Gucci team has created a true fashion escapade for the occasion. Encapsulating on our longing for show stopping fashion events with more than a year of ongoing lockdowns and a desire to move on with our lives.
The runway show features more than one collection – Fall 2021 looks as well as a look into the Resort 2022 collection.
