Designer Kerby Jean-Raymond presented PYER MOSS Fall Winter 2021.22 Wat U Iz Haute Couture Collection, that celebrates Black culture and innovations, with a fashion show held at Villa Lewaro, Madam C.J. Walker Estate (the first female self-made millionaire in America). The collection focuses on inventions by Black people and shows them in a nontraditional way – with 3D shapes and construction inspired by Pixar, Disney and Universal Studios. Activist, writer, singer, and former Black Panther Party chairwoman Elaine Brown opened the show with a powerful speech.
Kerby Jean-Raymond is the first Black American designer to show at Paris Couture Week.
