BOTTEGA VENETA Presented Salon 03 Collection in Detroit

The brand takes Salon ‘on the road’ to explore new territories.

BOTTEGA VENETA travelled to Detroit to present their Salon 03 collection in the historic Michigan Theatre, inspired by the intimate presentations of the golden age of couture. Salon’ is Bottega Veneta’s main ready-to-wear presentation and part of a new concept through which the brand presents its collections. It was first introduced in October 2020 in London followed by Berlin in April 2021. The brand takes Salon ‘on the road’ to explore new territories.

For Salon 03 we are in Detroit. Daniel Lee, creative director of Bottega Veneta, first visited Detroit six years ago and has wanted to collaborate with Detroiters creatively ever since. As a city Detroit pioneered American retail, birthed techno and the Motown sound. Detroiters built some of the world’s most beautiful automobiles and the state of Michigan led the American architectural modernism movement. Detroit has always been a city that appreciates design and is led by innovation. – from Bottega Veneta.

The collection combines American sportswear and workwear, seen through a contemporary, high-performance daywear lens. A sense of individualism and freedom is expressed. A celebration of industry, engineering and revolution runs throughout in the form of metal yarn. A focus on technicality and function, meets modern, liberated glamour. The manipulation and exaggeration of construction and volume is important. The dominate theme of soft and functional is seen through toweling fabric across the collection. Recycled rubber yarn is woven. Tailoring is unstructured. Relaxed silhouettes feature. Parkas are re-interpreted, woven with metallic yarns, to create new volumes.
