SPRING SUMMER 2022 WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS

Inspired by the collection of images by British photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, captured in 2019 in Bhutan, India, and Kashmir, the designer became nostalgic for Asia.

I felt the pure heart of the people through the photographs of Jamie Hawkesworth’s trip to Bhutan, India and Kashmir, and became nostalgic for Asia. This collection is an expression of this sentiment.
– Junya Watanabe

As a compliment to Jamie’s photography, Watanabe sourced prints and illustrations from a variety of international artists such asPhannapast Taychamaythakool, Ang Tsherin Sherpa, Wang Dongling, Jacky Tsai, Keiichi Tanaami, Marta Olga Klara, Nissaco, and Akiko Kondo.

This season Junya Watanabe has collaborated with the Japanese composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, who created a special arrangement of his song “Tong Poo” for the show.
