Fashion designer Miuccia Prada presented MIU MIU Fall Winter 2022.23 Collection at Palais d’Iena, on March 8th, during the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. For this season, designer uses the existing to create the new. A starting point for this collection was the brand’s Spring Summer 2022 collection, exploring the idea of reexamination, contemplation and expansion. The looks are girlish yet free from gender binaries. Last season’s mini skirt is back in various shapes, from pleated to a line.

“An antidote to meaningless novelty” means a fashion can eschew the temporality of its origins and evolve into a style, an attitude with resonance beyond a single season. Methodologies are re-applied to new clothing forms, re-engaging with concepts that still feel of purpose. “A new balance of proportion is found through cutting into pieces.” A switch of seasons evolves: proportions are re-examined, an élan found in classic checked tweeds and lace dresses, reconsidered. “The notion of reworking existent pieces” is extended, logically, via Upcycled leather pieces. Yet contradictions emerge – an obsession with tennis, paradoxical for winter, is expressed in brief pleated skirts and argyle knits. – from Miu Miu
