Guide to Nike x Drake NOCTA Collection

Following the number of collaborations with Air Jordan since 2013, Drake took his relationship with Nike to the next level. In December 2020, they launched NOCTA, a new sub-label rooted and inspired by those who roam the streets. A nod to the artist’s nocturnal creative process, the collaboration followed his “Laugh Now Cry Later” video, which was shot on location at Nike WHQ, and the release of the “Certified Lover Boy” album merchandise capsule.

SPORTSWEAR

In an official press release shared by Nike, Drake admitted that this moment was a full circle for him and he grew up wearing only Nike. It felt like every shoe I wanted, every athlete I liked, everything I owned was Nike. It didn’t mean anything unless it had a Swoosh. – said the rapper. He shared that he always thought the sportswear brand is only open to collaborations with athletes, and he is very grateful for this opportunity. I always felt like there was an opportunity for Nike to embrace an entertainer the same way they had athletes. I thought about how crazy it would have been and what it would have meant for an artist to have a flagship Nike deal. – he added.

Apparel

Created for people on the move, NOCTA combines the functionality, with comfortable fits that are adaptable from one environment to the next. Whether you are in Toronto, London or Paris, there’s this uniform look — Nike Tech Fleece, the gloves, the hat — and it has a real team feel. – the rapper explains.

With the reveal of the brand, Nike first shared the four inaugural pieces, including the puffer jacket, hoodie, fleece pants and the crew socks in Black and University Gold color palette. The prices ranged from $400 for the puffer jacket, to $120 for the hoodie, $110 for the fleece pant, and $30 for the crew socks. Drake and Nike’s first NOCTA collection was launched December 19, 2020, through Nike and sold out immediately. Discover more apparel from Nike x NOCTA collection at GOAT.

The star of the first drop was definitely the puffer jacket, available in two colorways – black or gold, featuring the well known Swoosh branding. It is designed for warmth without the weight, made in a glimmering black fabric. NOCTA delivered an instant classic with the debut collection. This black Nike x Drake NOCTA Jacket was released at a retail price of $400 USD. Purchase Nike x NOCTA Puffer Jacket here.

The long anticipated second drop was released in the beginning of 2021, and took the cues from the inaugural collection, including the black and gold color palette, pointed stars symbol, and printed text “C.L.”, “A.W.R.” and “Forza Nocta”.

With the third drop, Nocta went technical, mixing the style with functionality. The collection included jackets, hoodies, puffers, sweatpants, caps, socks, and a vest with pockets and zippered pouches, all adorned with Nike and NOCTA branding.

Drake’s NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra

The latest release from the collaboration, the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra sneakers divided the internet. When the first pictures leaked on Instagram, the reactions were mixed – the fans either loved them or hated them.

Inspired by the late ‘90s aesthetic, the sole of the Hot Step Air Terra is borrowed from 1999’s Air Terra Humara. It is available in two monochromatic colorways – white and black, while the finishing touches include metallic Nike Swooshes on the each lateral side panel, reflective piping, colored Air units, as well as the NOCTA logos on the tongue. The model was officially released this March and it’s already sold out. Shop the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra at Flight Club.
