Los Angeles based fashion brand AMIRI presented their Pre-Spring 2023 Womenswear Collection lookbook captured by Hart Le?shkina, with styling from Veneda Carter. For the collection, designer Mike Amiri expands and recontextualizes the brand’s core archetypes and signatures, pulling at the seams, altering meaning through craft. The inspiration for the collection comes of course from their hometown Los Angeles, incorporating the city’s dynamic personalities, which mix and merge creating new identites of self-expression.
PRE-SPRING 2023 COLLECTIONS
The collection’s silhouettes are shrunken, cropped, elongated and skewed, guided by sculptural craft and adjustable detailing. The lines shift from form-fitting to oversized, emitting the masculine feel and subverted constructions. The workwear feel pieces are coloured in vibrant pink and blue. Ther materials for this collection are borrowed from the world of sport and utility yet repurposed for everyday.
Elegance is born from artisan experimentation. Crinkle technical fabrics emulate parachuting as smooth, supple leather harmonizes with highly textured, tactile woven fabrics. Tracksuits and tailoring are interchangeable, such is the versatility and rigor of AMIRI’s savior-faire. Leisure-inspired pieces are rendered in luxury fabrics and cut in the house’s classic kick-flare silhouette, while, by contrast, traditional bouclé suiting is relaxed in boxy fits with sports-inspired drawcord waists. These adjustable details not only inform the silhouette’s cocooning effect, but also become a contemporary idea of the bespoke, offering multiple interpretations and transformations. Hallmark hybrid design codes splice denim with leather, and tweeds with vintage track tricot jerseys to forge new structure. AMIRI introduces the Malibu Boot as a Pre-Spring 2023 signature for men and women, crafted in suede and shearling-lined, alongside leather, monochrome loafers designed with tonal stitching and sole contrasts. Debuting new core silhouettes, the M.A. Bag, and the Petite M.A. iteration are introduced in smooth Italian leather featuring a fold-over-top, silk bandana wraparound handle and ‘MA’ monogram hardware alongside matching slimline belts.
