Fashion brand MSGM presented their Resort 2023 Collection, that explores an illusion of an endless Summer, and it brings escapism, and a vision of a new world. The collection is made from more sustainable materials, such as organic cotton and vegan eco-leather. The color palette reflects vitality: a sunny yellow, emerald green, strawberry and mango together with sorbet, candied, refreshing tones. Hibiscus, symbol of love and fecundity, is the brand’s obsession of the season, featured on luxurious jacquard cloqué, in tactile inlays or damier patterns on knitwear, in playful combinations together with fruit and palms. The collection features sharps, sleeveless and denim cargo outfits for a clean look, as well as mini dresses, miniskirts, slip dresses, frilly printed crepon blouses, and halter neck tops that cover and uncover the body. Fashion photographer Anton Gottlob captured the lookbook featuring models Michelle Laff, and Shivaruby. In charge of styling was Vittoria Cerciello, with casting direction from Barbara Nicoli & Leila Ananna. Beauty is work of hair stylist Andrea Martinelli, and makeup artist Giulia Cigarini.
RESORT 2023 COLLECTIONS
“Daring tones mix into blurred harmonies, becoming colourful gradients and tie dyes that soften like the sky at dusk. On the twill, the fuchsia-yellow-azure tones bring to mind the 3D passages in “Sun[set] provisioning” by Yuri Pattinson, a video loop of sunsets and dawns across the limitless sweep of the ocean (Ordet, Milan 2020). The idea of nature returns as the dimension that is imagined or is perhaps imaginary; the illusory view of a place that is untouched, spectacular and free, of an island that (perhaps) doesn’t exist. Lines impose rigorous and multi-colour geometric shapes, like pictures by the painter Gene Davis. They stand out on super-chunky crochet clothes, on straw knitwear and in combinations that light up with pink and orange on twill suits and large trousers. These are transformed into kaleidoscope fringes on mini dresses or girly dresses, or fringes with graphic designs on the rugby t-shirts which have become an MSGM icon.” – from MSGM
