Top Reasons to Look At Prom Dresses For Weddings

It’s funny how dresses are placed into categories. In fact, it’s a clever marketing strategy. By categorizing dresses you are forced to look at specific styles and this helps the manufacturers and suppliers control the prices. This includes wedding dresses, prom dresses, and even cocktail dresses.

The wedding dress market is a perfect example of this. If you’re shopping for a wedding dress, something for the bridesmaids, or even as a guest, then you’ll look in wedding stores. But, you don’t need to. In fact, it’s a great idea to look at prom dresses when shopping for the right outfit to wear to a wedding. Here’s why.

The Selection

If you only look at wedding dress stores and the selection they offer then you’re going to have a limited range to choose from. It’s difficult to find the perfect dress when everyone else is looking at the same thing. Not only is it possible you’ll settle for the best dress you can find, but there is also a high probability that someone else will be wearing it, or something very similar.

But, if you take a look at the array of dresses on offer we are sure you’ll find something fresh, exciting, and definitely unique. What better reason could there be to look at prom dresses for a wedding?

Cost

When manufacturers categorize dresses it allows them to set price bands. That is part of the reason you’ll find all dresses connected with weddings are so expensive. However, if you switch tact and take a look at the prom dresses on offer, you’ll find you can purchase a stunning dress for a lot less. That means you can look fantastic for a lot less money.

On top of this, it’s common to have sales on prom dresses throughout the year, this doesn’t happen very often with wedding dresses.

Can be Re-used

The right prom dress can create a stylish formal look or a more fun vibe, depending on the type of wedding you are going to. But, most importantly, while you are unlikely to reuse a dress designed specifically for weddings, choosing a prom dress provides you with a dress that you can reuse. Naturally, you’re unlikely to be able to wear it every day but there is a much greater chance of re-wearing a prom dress than a wedding dress.

More Fashionable

Prom dresses tend to change each year to reflect the latest trends. That means you’re more likely to get a stylish and fashionable prom dress than you are when shopping for wedding dresses.

If you prefer the classic look there are plenty of prom dresses that offer a fairy-tale finish. Just remember not to upstage the bride, you’ll never be forgiven for that!

As with any new dress, you need to try it on before you commit. Fortunately, you can easily do this in-store or online. That means you have a wide array of choices open to you, all you have to do is choose the perfect one.

Being more fashionable will also make it easier to pair your dress with other guests at the wedding, ensuring you all look fantastic without upstaging the bride.

Easier To Accessorize

Prom dresses tend to be more affordable, more in touch with the latest fashions, and a little simpler than dresses designed for weddings. This all works in your favour and allows you to transform the dress into the dress of your dreams.

You can add fabric, make small changes to the design, or simply accessorize to create your perfect dress. It’s a lot easier to do that when the canvas is affordable. A worst-case scenario allows you to replace the dress and start again. That’s never an option when looking at wedding dresses.

Better Fabric Options

In general, prom dresses come in a wide range of fabrics and may offer a better option for a hot wedding or one in the middle of winter. Dresses designed for weddings tend to focus on style as opposed to comfort, a prom dress manages to do both. That’s an important consideration when attending a wedding.

In short, if you’ve been invited to a wedding you need to consider wearing a prom dress, it can give you the best of everything.
