Fashion house UNDERCOVER presented their Fall Winter 2023.24 Collection with a show, held on March 1st, during the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. For the collection, designer Jun Talahashi wanted to pay tribute to English band The Specials and German musician Manuel Göttsching.
FALL WINTER 2023.24 COLLECTION
As the song “Enjoy Yourself” by the Specials says, life is over in a flash, so with my collection, I wanted to convey that if that be the case, let’s live what little life we have to the fullest. Life will present us with hills and valleys to cross. I want to remember the positive attitude I had when I was young. The Specials and Manuel Göttsching created some of the most meaningful music to my life. Thus, I included The Specials’ symbolic ska two-tone, three-button suits and rude boy style, as well as the graphic image of ska, black and white checkers, in this collection. I also included ambient music pioneer Manuel Göttsching’s masterpiece E2-E4 album cover’s off-white and brown checkers. As I was deciding the themes of this collection, both The Special’s lead vocalists, Terry Hall and Manuel Göttsching, passed away. I don’t know what that means, but I wanted this collection to pay homage to these incredible two artists. – Jun Talahashi
