Fashion house AMIRI unveiled its Pre-Fall 2023 Collection that celebrates a lifestyle of discovery, newness, and exploration. The collection channels the California mindset, and pays tribute to Americana. Traditional outerwear silhouettes are deconstructed in pursuit of a lightweight aesthetic. The world of sports influences key silhouettes and technical fabrics; the house’s wool-blend blouson jacket sets the tone, while badged varsity jackets pay homage to collegiate sports. The emphasis of the collection is on newly developed techniques and exquisite finishes, which create a sense of contemporary couture and position it at the forefront of denim innovation. Each piece undergoes a time-intensive process of repeated washes, hyper-detailing, hand distressing, and coloring to redefine denim as a luxury fabric. Denim is an iconic fabric, and it should be regarded as such. Denim jacquard basketball sets are textured with the AMIRI typeface insignia, and signature MX1s are embellished with a hand-painted Aloha pattern. The introduction of a denim suit with a blazer silhouette distorts traditional notions of tailoring.
The utilitarian aesthetic is seamlessly integrated throughout the women’s collection: multi-pocket cargo pants echo this season’s new wide-leg denim silhouette, and voluminous tailored trousers are adorned with utility pockets. Denim workwear shapes are reimagined with fluid, sensual proportions, varsity jackets are embroidered and patch-worked with classic AMIRI motifs, and silk bowling shirts have become an icon of womenswear. A muted palette of mint, blue and cream instils a tranquil mindset as personality takes precedence. The womenswear silhouette is drawn from a dropped shoulder to a high-waisted trouser line; the shape is loose and functional, but always under control. Tracksuits are treated as if they were tailored, and blazers are transformed into everyday outerwear, worn over crop tops, across the shoulders, or cut at the shoulders to create an elegant new silhouette.
