Discover Yohji Yamamoto Spring Summer 2024 collection presented during the recently wrapped up Paris Fashion Week. While renowned for his predominantly black garments, Yamamoto has embraced a shift towards incorporating more color in his recent seasons.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
The collection showcases the designer’s unconventional approach to tailoring, with oversized trousers, waistcoats, and coats carefully adorned with stitches and oversized safety pins. Notably, blazer lapels were intentionally left with unfinished edges, while spare fabrics were artfully sewn onto garments like unique embroideries. Achieving the delicate balance between an unfinished aesthetic and impeccable craftsmanship is no easy feat, but Yamamoto’s design prowess shines through in every piece, demonstrating his ability to masterfully blend rawness and perfection.
Drawing inspiration from art books spanning the Middle Ages to the present day, the collection featured a multitude of prints, including a notable abundance of Yohji’s own face. Yamamoto sought to capture the diverse architectural and artistic styles across various historical periods, aiming to create patterns that would symbolize the fusion of different eras into a singular representation.
