Fashion brand ZIGGY CHEN unveiled its Spring Summer 2024 Collection titled Inadvertency, on June 21st, with both physical and digital presentation, as part of the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. The essence of the collection is a casual and effortless style, portraying the essence of a man who dresses casually and with a sense of spontaneity. The collection meticulously explores the theme of naturalness, paying close attention to fabrics, colors, and intricate details while prioritizing comfort. To create the exclusive print for “Inadvertency,” the designer was inspired by collage technique. Ancient book covers and vintage fabric fragments from his personal collection are meticulously cut and reassembled to create the collection’s signature pattern for the season. This one-of-a-kind print is harmoniously combined with yarn-dyed fabrics or treated with additional dyeing processes, producing a captivating trompe l’oeil visual effect that plays with multidimensionality.
SPRING SUMMER 2024 COLLECTIONS
The fabrics utilized in the collection are the outcome of extensive testing. Ziggy Chen examines a variety of techniques, including yarn dying, washing, overdyeing, and printing, deftly manipulating different types and counts of threads to create varied thicknesses and textures. Between the men’s and women’s divisions, the materials exude a natural spontaneity that is highlighted by intriguing contrasts. Fabrics composed of linen, hemp, and ramie lend a sense of simplicity to the men’s section, while silk and viscose accentuate graceful drapery in the women’s section. The collection’s color palette introduces new hues that enhance its overall aesthetic. Alongside the signature mud browns and olive greens, a faded blue hue takes center stage, drawing inspiration from a 1940s Chinese workwear piece showcasing a gorgeous patina that has developed over decades of use. Each component of the collection exemplifies the essence of “Inadvertency” in its own manner. Through this collection, Ziggy Chen continues to refine his vision of reality, like a gradual flow that revisits the past while applying innovative techniques to fabrics, colors, and prints.
