Fashion house Tory Burch unveiled its Fall Winter 2023 campaign starring supermodels Emily Ratajkowski, Liu Wen, and Nora Attal lensed by fashion photographer Jamie Hawkesworth. In charge of styling was Brian Molloy, with art direction from Alex Lockett. Beauty is work of hair stylist Jimmy Paul, makeup artist Dick Page, and manicurist Elina Ogawa.
Set within the evocative backdrop of a train station, the campaign is symbolic of transition. Much like a journey that takes one from old ideas to newer horizons, the collection seeks to redefine what it means to be stylishly feminine. The train station isn’t just a setting; it’s a metaphor for this movement, this transition from the known to the revolutionary.
The Tory Burch Fall Winter 2023 collection is an ode to strength, simplicity, and confidence. It is a challenge to conventional perceptions of beauty and femininity, breaking away from the familiar to create something entirely new.
The collection itself is a masterclass in innovation. While it does challenge the prevailing notions of beauty and femininity, it does so by breaking down the traditional wardrobe. What’s rebuilt in its place is something with an undone attitude. Silhouettes that have become staples over the years undergo a change. They are sculpted, tailored, twisted, but always with an emphasis on preserving their inherent simplicity.
Yet, the collection isn’t just about reinterpreting the familiar. It’s about showcasing the raw, unfiltered beauty of materials and designs. Materials that are luxurious in their very essence are presented in a raw-cut and weathered manner. Logos, once a subtle addition, hang brazenly off bags. Heels are broken but not in a manner that makes them seem unusable; instead, they highlight the beauty that resides in imperfections.
Details that were once hidden, such as lingerie, the interior construction of outfits, and even safety pins, are now displayed. It’s a brave and bold move, one that underscores the collection’s theme of being unapologetically true to oneself. Every item in the collection has been crafted with one purpose in mind: versatility. Whether it’s being mixed with another piece, layered, or individualized, the goal is to give wearers the freedom to express themselves.
