Carhartt WIP FW23 “Tour” Melds Military and Outdoor Aesthetics

Exploring rugged terrains, Carhartt WIP's latest collection showcases utilitarian designs influenced by military and outdoor themes.

In the latest editorial for Carhartt WIP‘s Fall Winter 2023 collection, titled “Tour“, the brand ventures into military and outdoor terrains. The editorial was shot on a secluded island off the English coast, encapsulating a rugged backdrop that complements the collection’s themes.

One of the standout pieces is the canvas Cargo Bib Overall. This inventive design melds two iconic utilitarian styles — the cargo pant and the bib overall, resulting in a hybrid silhouette that resonates with the brand’s workwear legacy.

Alongside the Cargo Bib Overall, the Haste Jacket and Pant also make their debut. Constructed from durable ripstop fabric, both pieces exhibit a stark military label, exemplifying the collection’s martial inspiration.

For the women’s lineup, the Olten Bomber takes center stage. Drawing inspiration from the classic MA-1 bomber silhouette, this piece has been tastefully refashioned with a lustrous sateen shell and contrast color lining, making it a must-have for the FW23 season. An added tactile touch is found in the pile liners adorned with a seasonal jacquard motif, which underlines the brand’s attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Complementing the clothing lineup, the collection also boasts an array of gadgets and accessories. From a cozy quilted blanket, ideal for cold nights, to a functional headlamp, these items echo the military and outdoor influences that pervade the entire collection.

Founded in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt WIP (Work In Progress) has continuously redefined classic workwear by embedding it with contemporary nuances. By honoring the original Carhartt workwear aesthetics and simultaneously delving into various subcultures, the brand has crafted its own set of classics.

Since inaugurating its first store in London in 1997, Carhartt WIP has expanded its global footprint, now boasting over 80 stores worldwide. Beyond clothing, the brand has diversified its involvement in the cultural scene, supporting artists, hosting its own skate team, and producing a variety of in-house publications.
