La Galerie Dior, an emblematic space nestled in the historic 30 Montaigne, Paris, is more than just an exhibition hall; it’s a journey through the storied heritage of Dior.
EXHIBITIONS
This museum, rich in art and memory, traces the extraordinary trajectory of the fashion house, showcasing the evolution of Dior style from its founder Christian Dior to the current creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri.
From November 24, 2023, to May 13, 2024, La Galerie Dior hosts a remarkable exhibition highlighting Dior’s collaborations with women artists. This exhibition illuminates the foundational connections between Dior and the world of creative arts. Monsieur Dior, before becoming a renowned couturier, was deeply immersed in the art world, originally making his mark as a gallery owner. His designs were significantly influenced by his passion for art, incorporating elements from music, literature, painting, and architecture.
The exhibition at La Galerie Dior celebrates these artistic affiliations, particularly focusing on the collaborations with influential women artists under Maria Grazia Chiuri’s tenure. It features the works of Lillian Bassman, Elina Chauvet, Judy Chicago, and many others, each bringing their unique vision and dialogue to the fore. Visitors can embark on a poetic journey through the rooms, each dedicated to different artists, offering a unique perspective on Dior’s history.
A highlight of this exhibition is the ‘Chambre aux merveilles’, showcasing reinterpretations of the iconic Lady Dior bag by female artists from the eight editions of Dior Lady Art. These creations resemble a modern cabinet of curiosities, revealing the diverse interpretations of femininity and creativity.
This exhibition is more than a retrospective; it’s a tribute to Dior’s enduring inventiveness and a celebration of a plural feminine vision and sisterhood, core values upheld by Maria Grazia Chiuri. It invites visitors to experience an odyssey, commemorating the House’s ongoing innovation and its deep-seated relationship with the arts.
