Fashion photographer Ashley Chappell captured the latest DSCENE STYLE STORIES exclusive feature titled Totems of Internal Reflection. In charge of styling was Rowaine Grant, assisted by Kayla Devine. Beauty is work of hair stylist Alexandria DiRoma, and makeup artist Sasha Lutfullina. Stars of the session are Alassane Dia, Jordan Huff, Jadon Wilson, Kareem Fadiga, Alioune Badara Fall, and Tolani.
The story views each person/color as a totem; they all represent different aspects of a spiritual entity, and thus their interactions vary significantly in different environments. These environments are characterized by light versus darkness, the only two colors known to be voided in the material world and to play by their own rules. Everything else is altered and affected by their presence, rather than the other way around. The team examines the different colors from the story within the white room and observes how they interact with each other in the light (white room) versus the dark (black room). Internal Reflection also plays on an emotional and psychological level, signifying ‘introspection’ or ‘metacognition’ in a spiritual aspect.
