Edward Enninful, in his final act as Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, orchestrated a monumental tribute to the power of femininity and collective influence with the March 2024 issue. This special edition, featuring 40 iconic women on its cover, it is a celebration of influential figures in fashion, culture, and society and a bold statement on the evolution and daring strides made by the magazine under Enninful’s stewardship over six and a half years. The cover is a homage to the women who have not only shaped the magazine for nearly 108 years but have also played a pivotal role in guiding Enninful throughout his life and career.
Understanding that no single woman could encapsulate the magazine’s transformative years, Enninful and his team opted for a group cover that would lean into the power of the collective. These women, selected for their remarkable impact, personality, style, and influence, have risen above the fashion and culture to bring about positive change in society during the 2020s. This decision led to a historic photoshoot with renowned photographer Steven Meisel in New York, bringing together models, movie icons, musicians, moguls, sporting legends, and media stars from across the globe.
Among the cover stars are Karen Elson, Irina Shayk, Laverne Cox, Anya Taylor-Joy, Serena Williams, Rina Sawayama, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Amber Valletta, Precious Lee, Cindy Crawford, Jodie Comer, Gemma Chan, Adut Akech, Vittoria Ceretti, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Cara Delevingne, Jane Fonda, Gigi Hadid, Linda Evangelista, Adwoa Aboah, Paloma Elsesser, Victoria Beckham, Ariana DeBose, Jameela Jamil, Oprah Winfrey, Salma Hayek, Miley Cyrus, Iman Abdulmajid, Christy Turlington, Selma Blair, Maya Jama, Kate Moss, Cynthia Erivo, Simone Ashley, Lila Moss, Anok Yai, Kaia Gerber, Naomi Campbell and Dua Lipa. In charge of styling was Edward Enninful, with set design from Mary Howard at MHS Artists, and production by PRODn. Beauty is work of hair stylist Guido Palau, hair colorist Lena Ott, makeup artist Pat McGrath, and manicurist Jin Soon Choi.
