Ester Manas has taken a deliberate hiatus from the runway since SS23, as designers Balthazar Delepierre and Ester Manas prioritized honing their craft. This bold decision, in an industry known for its relentless pace and short memory, may have raised eyebrows, but their return for AW24 demonstrated the wisdom of their approach. Prior to the show, editors received a handwritten note exclaiming ‘Missed You!‘ alongside a lipstick print, signaling a highly anticipated comeback.
The FW24 runway showcased an evolution of the brand’s signature aesthetic, expanding beyond their renowned selection of sexy, skintight dresses to encompass a comprehensive wardrobe with diverse components. Leather trenches in matte crocodile and gunmetal grey commanded attention, while cropped puffers made a statement in black and sand hues, and grey sweatpants were transformed into charming little shorts. Ribbed knitwear in subtle tones made multiple appearances, alongside a standout shearling jacket fastened snugly to the model’s chin.
While the brand’s iconic mesh fabric remained a key feature, seen in leopard print dresses, sky blue bodycons, and crop tops paired with hoop earrings and shades, the most intriguing innovation of the season lay in the standout accessories. Delepierre and Manas introduced accessories crafted from the same squiggly, silky fabric as the dresses, including clutches, totes, and scarves, adding a playful and cohesive touch to the collection. This fusion of signature elements with fresh, inventive details solidified Ester Manas’ position as a label to watch, reaffirming their commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining contemporary fashion.
