Vaishali S unveiled her Spring-Summer 2024 couture collection, third in Paris since she became the first Indian woman invited to showcase at Haute Couture Week. Vaishali’s latest collection, titled “I am Nature,” is exploring the bond between ourselves and the natural world.
The “I am Nature” collection is a response to Vaishali S’s last series, “Abyss,” which went into the depths of the ocean and the self to reveal the vibrant hues and beauty hidden beneath. This season, she takes a step further to acknowledge that we are not separate from nature; we are an integral part of it. This realization is encapsulated in her designs, which marry traditional handwoven textiles with innovative handwork, showcasing a blend of India’s rich textile heritage with contemporary fashion.
Vaishali S’s approach to this collection is focused on balance and creativity. Each piece is wearable yet imaginative, crafted to empower individuals to express their most authentic selves through fashion. The designer’s choice of precious fabrics from various Indian states, coupled with new handwork techniques, is also an expression of Vaishali’s inner world and her intimate connection with nature. Complementing the collection were pieces from the Parisian jeweler Lydia Courteille.
