Blackpink Member Jisoo is the New Face of Self-Portrait

London-based fashion house Self-Portrait has announced South Korean multi-award-winning musician, and member of k-pop band BLACKPINK, Jisoo as the face of its latest campaign, marking a series of significant firsts for both the brand and the artist. This collaboration represents the first time Self-Portrait has partnered with a musician to spearhead its campaign. It also marks Jisoo’s debut in a contemporary fashion campaign, coming at a pivotal moment as she unveils her own agency, Blissoo, to the world.

The campaign, captured in Seoul by photographer Yoon JiYong, showcases the brand’s Spring Summer 2024 collection. Through a series of captivating portraits, the essence of the Self-Portrait woman – her strength, effortlessness, and sensitivity – is brought to life, embodying the brand’s vision and aesthetics in the vibrant heart of South Korea. In charge of styling and creative direction was Han Chong, with art direction from Gee Run. Beauty is work of hair stylist Lee Seon Young, and makeup artist Lee Mi Young.

Han Chong, the Founder and Creative Director of Self-Portrait, shared his inspiration behind this groundbreaking partnership, highlighting the integral role of music in his life and its influence on his creative process. For Chong, music and the dynamic personas of musicians have been a constant source of inspiration, making this collaboration with Jisoo a realization of a long-held dream. The relationship between Jisoo and Self-Portrait isn’t new; the fashion house has been dressing the global icon for years, both on and off the stage, making her the natural choice to front this campaign.

Chong admires Jisoo not only for her global influence and role model status but for her personal qualities – her kindness, inspiration, sensitivity, and strength. These traits are celebrated in the campaign, aiming to highlight Jisoo’s inner and outer beauty through the first series of portraits shot together in Seoul. Jisoo graces the campaign in stunning pieces from the Spring Summer 2024 collection, including a pale pink sequin mini dress with black trim and an orange and pink rhinestone embellished mini dress, showcasing the brand’s innovative design and craftsmanship.

Jisoo’s involvement in the Self-Portrait campaign places her among the ranks of other renowned women who have previously been the face of the brand, such as Emily Ratajkowski, Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, Kate Moss, and Phoebe Dynenvor.

The Spring Summer 2024 collection, highlighted through this partnership, is available online at self-portrait.com, in self-portrait stores globally, and through an international network of retailers.
