The Air Jordan I Mid Subway is a product of the Jordan Wings Design Program, a creative initiative that connects young student designers with industry professionals to create unique sneaker models. This latest iteration is inspired by the unsung heroes of New York City—the diligent staff of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). As the backbone of the largest public transit system in North America, these individuals are celebrated through the design of the shoe, symbolizing the resilience and spirit of those who keep the city moving.
Over a six-week collaborative process, more than 130 high school students from Jordan Brand Wings partner organizations across the United States, including cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, and Philadelphia, participated in this project. These young designers were encouraged to integrate personal stories and local inspirations into their sneaker designs, focusing on the theme of “role models.” Each group presented their concepts to a panel of Jordan Brand employees, resulting in the selection of the New York City-inspired Air Jordan I Mid Subway for production.

The release of the Air Jordan I Mid Subway is set for May 14, available in sizes ranging from toddlers to grade school. These sneakers will be accessible through nike.com and at select Nike retail locations such as the Nike House of Innovation NYC and Nike Soho.
