Antonio Grimaldi‘s latest couture collection for Fall/Winter 2024-2025, titled “I Shine,” is a glamorous homage to the opulent lifestyle of the jet-set elite. Inspired by the “Dolce Vita” era on the French Riviera, the collection draws from the luxurious and spirited world of casinos, speedboats, and high-profile characters. Grimaldi’s muse for this collection is Ljuba Rizzoli, whom he met at one of his fashion shows fifteen years ago in Monte Carlo. Their enduring friendship and Rizzoli’s life story provided the creative spark for this array of couture pieces.
The craftsmanship in Grimaldi’s collection is unparalleled, with embroidery designed to become an integral part of the dress itself. Swarovski crystals in the shape of micro pyramids form arm bands on one-shoulder garments and cuff bracelets on blouses, creating a series of wearable jewels. Macro pink and black pearls are strategically placed to form lines on white bodices or cascade on transparent tulle, while silver rods are embroidered in a three-dimensional pattern on a mini jacket, mimicking the facets of a diamond.
Grimaldi’s use of fabrics such as chiffon, velvet, tulle, crêpe cady, leather, and organza showcases his ability to transform materials into three-dimensional works of art. The collection plays with transparency, accentuating the sensual effect of the garments. The color palette ranges from classic black and white, reminiscent of vintage photographs, to hues inspired by precious stones like diamond yellow, pink, and beryl, creating an intense golden brown shade.
Set against the backdrop of Monte Carlo’s most lavish parties, the collection is ideal for sophisticated soirees. The pieces feature elaborate trains, tulle ruffles, and jeweled bodices, embodying the luxurious spirit of “La Dolce Vita.” Antonio Grimaldi’s “I Shine” collection not only pays tribute to his muse Ljuba Rizzoli but also celebrates timeless glamour.
